I have a set of 40" mtrs on my 4runner, but they dont say "for racing use only" on them.  what do you mean by how they rank with todays tires?  The old style mtr's have always been a great tire, some people pregnant dog about the sidewalls but lots of my friends and I have been running them for a few years in our very sharp granite hear in south dakota and have never had a failure.
