i'm in the process of doing a SAS with a toyota axle. it's really not as bad as people make it out to be... if you run 1.5" spacers it's one inch narrower on each side than stock tacoma width.
if i could start over again i would have started with a 2wd 4cyl 5-speed, because a) there's a lot less to cut off, b) i could use a w56 with the stock bellhousing get a passenger drop transfercase, c) duals are much cheaper.
