What engine?

I have a similar issue with a T100 3.4L. It idles high, 1500-2000rpm, almost all the time. Every so often I can tap the accelerator and it will slowly come down to a normal idle. It's not my truck and my buddy said his mechanic told him it was a sensor that would cost $1000 to fix. F that!
