, you have two transfercases. One is a forward shift t/case that contains a low range gear set of 4.0:1, and the other is a top shift t/case core that you will be tearing down to use to assymble a dual case 'Unit'.
Your right, what you want to do is swap the forks and rods between the two. You need to place the forward shift rods/forks in your dual case 'unit', and the top shift rods/forks must go in your t/case that contains your 4.0:1 gears and will have the drivelines bolted to it.
