My Runner has 4d's, ARB Chromo Axles/Ringed 27 Bobby long side, and stock Birf on rt side, stock hubs. I have never had a "self induced" problem. Zero breakage after 5 Rubicon Trips, 3 Fordyce. 2 Dusy trips, 5 Niagra Runs. I only use the locker, when I must. I try not to steer it much if I am using the locker. I go as slow as possible and If it isnt getting there I try slightly different lines. It goes everywhere I point it. The trick to not breaking hubs/birfs is not wanting to.
A rear ARB, 2 Cases and 4.7's, with Big Ole 3psi 40" Irocks help too! 
well hopefully mine will hold up that long. I would be pretty happy (and surprised) if they last through the summer!
