The chromo hub gears are a must with 40's, the stock gears break around 5500 and the 30's break at like 8700(not sure on either of those numbers but they are close) so your hub gear is the weak link. when they break they usually strip the splines out on the long and thats the only way bobby wont warranty them. I run the chromo gears in my DD 

so what you are sayin is that i should probly buy the chromo hub gears and just use my 27 spline longs and see how long they last?  I'm thinkin thats what i will probly do. Then i can spend my tax return on a winch instead of a 30 spline super set.
