I have an 88 4runner v-6 that i am thinking about going dual cases in. I kinda want to avoid buying the v6 to gear driven tcase adapter but it might be easier just to use one. Im pretty sure your r151fs are the same tranny just a little beefed and has a different output shaft (so i dont need the vr adapter)?? If so I might be interested in one. Do the tcases use a top shift or forward shift off of the back of the tranny?? Any info helps.
Thanks
If you have a v6 all you need is the bell housing from your r150 tranny and it bolts right up to the r151f. Marlin will trade you a v6 housing already ground to fit a v6 for the r151f bell housing. All you have to pay for is shipping (last I checked).
R151f's have a gear driven transfer case with 23 spline. Any gear driven transfer case will work for duals as long as you regear it w/ 23 spline. For example, 1st case 23 spline 4.7 Marlin gears, rear 2.28 stock t-case. Also, 23 spline gears are the same price as 21 spline gears from Marlin.
Oh ya, r151f's are forward shift.
