I use cvs petroleum jelly on all my o-rings /seals  it will dissipate faster in oil then grease will  a must for when you doing hydro clutch packs.    but for what your working  on what every you got laying around should work. 

just make sure you surfaces where the silicon will be is clean/dry :)
