Werd, I just use pretty much whatever grease I have around, wheel bearing or multi purpose. 

When making my own seals, like a pan gasket seal, I just use toyota fipg.  Tranny and case gaskets, or side case gaskets (motorbike) I use permatex ultra gray.  If there's an o-ring, just clean everything really well and install that, don't mess it up with sealant.
