That should be a major part of a rebuild, no matter how decent they look.  Otherwise, the ring on the plunger can get beat up and not make good contact, or the plunger shaft can get gunked up (especially if it sees water crossings) and start to stick. 

Should be able to get the contacts from toyota or 4crawler pretty cheap.  Lady at the local lithia toy said they can't get the plungers, but my contact said they most definately can, and as far as I know you can't just get the ring for the plunger.  I have a couple extra and thought about trying to get one off and see if I could keep it flat, but I doubt that'd be too easy.
