i made mine removable on project extend-a-toy...  i ended up sleeving holes in my frame and then using 1/2 inch bolts to bolt my sliders on..  it was a little work to do all the sleeving but its more work to have to cut everything off and weld everything on again should they have to come off.  my reasoning was that if i bent them up too bad and needed to replace them i would rather unbolt than torch..
