I can see how it got its name, from back in the day(yes I am old enough to be able to use that phrase), when all that was out on the trail was stock rigs running 28" tires.  That area is great place to be introduced to wheeling, that is where most of my friends learned to wheel their stock rigs on rocks.  Unfortunately or fortunately(depending on how you look at it), I wasn't so lucky, my first foray into the rocks in a stock truck was the Fordyce creek trail from Meadow lake to Fordyce lake.  Minimal damage on the trail, a mild dent on the front valance, and a few scratches was all I received on my 8 month old '90 Toyota, that is until I hydro-locked the engine while attempting Committee x-ing.
