Running the Con during any holiday weekend or planned event is pretty pointless, you always spend more time waiting for broken rigs to get fixed, or towed up the trail.

The whole idea of running the trail as fast as you can mentality is the problem w/most of the popular trails, and is the very reason why they are so torn up and in danger of closing.  The Rubicon used to take a good 3-4 days to run it, have a good time, and cause very little damage to your rig or the trail.  IMO, if you can't spend that amount of time on the trail, stay home.

Post up on the trail ride section for the the Hi-lakes.  My buddies and I usually camp up there once or twice during the dry season, and usually make a trip monthly during the winter w/a couple of snow camping trips as well.
