Look about 1" from the top portion of the female (larger od) piece of tube there should be a couple of plastic dots on the flat sides of the tube.  You can try and drill them and force the inner out of that.  I tryed that but it didnt ever work very well so now I just pull the shaft assembly out and take the u-joint setup off the shaft and using a small piece of steel round stock (3/8" ish) I put the whole setup in a vise and drive the inner out of the larger tube.  Then you just cut the plastic off and your set.
Full hydro, 186:1 with an auto and 44's what could go wrong??
