The king pins came where in the earlier axles and are thought to be stronger. Probably the best axle to get would be a mid 80's chevy-gm. These are pass. drop and are common so it will be easy to find parts for. If you are serious about the one tons go to the tech section off the pirate home page and find the front dana 60 bible by Billavista. This will have all the information you could ever want. I would recommend a 14bolt or dana 70 for the rear. He also has a 14bolt bible in the same section. A chevy dana 60 will sell for around 800- 1000$. The cheapest way is to buy a 60 that someone has already built. Just do your homework so you know exactly what you want.If you have cash in hand and are willing to wait you will find someone in a bind who has to sell at a good price.
