I agree, under the bed is not a good place for removing the spare if you get a flat on the trail, street use is no problem. But when you carry a lot of

in the rig there's no better place.
My 35" spare fit under the bed with no real issues. The only thing I did was make a heat shield on my exhaust so the heat wouldn't do any damage to the spare since it was like 2 inches from the pipe. I had it under there on the way to the Rubicon and then before we hit the trail I fit it in the bed after leaving some things at my buddy's house in Tahoe.
Good thing too, cause I tore open a tire on the trail.

Thankfully, we weren't too far from camp when that happened and we didn't have to repack the entire load. We just kinda threw it back in there kinda loose like.
