Is it possible to install the 10" brake setup on a pre '86 (8" brake) axle? Is there a kit out there to do it? Or am I better off looking for a complete axle somewhere?

I've heard the 86+ 10" brake assemblies will bolt onto the earlier 79-85 axles. I also heard that T100 and Tacomas have 11.50" brake assemblies and these will definitely bolt onto the 86+ axles, if not the earlier ones.

So why not just look for the larger ones to begin with? I may be mistaken about the width of the turbo 86-87 truck axles. They may in fact be 58 inches wide too, but the two axles I saw installed in trucks definitely were G292s.
