What I have done on MC tanks is to throw a handful of nuts and bolts into it , cap it, and shake it agound alot. Then I clean it out and get gas tank sealer from a place like Eastwood and coat the inside of the tank with the sealer. You can also take them to an automotive machine shop and have it hot tanked, then seal it.
