The flapper disk left a nice smooth finish, and I just resprayed them with a few coats of red caliper paint after the wheel clearance was fixed.
I also got my steering stabilizer mounted. I welded the bracket to the top of the axle housing (circled in red) to keep the stabilizer fairly parallel... I don't know if it matters if it is parallel when doing low speed wheeling, but this locating tucked it out of the way and worked nicely for my application.
