And... She's off!  A cheap 3 arm puller, wd40, hose clamp, and bfh did the trick.  Apparently there's more mud under the truck than I thought. It started raining down when the bfh session began.  Do I need to press the new one on some how or just crank down/torque the nut?
Crank and torque, clean up the splines on the selector shaft with a wire brush.
