very unlikley, but it could be the mass air sensor and flapper.
Our buddy tims 3.0 has been acting up for months and we kept thinking it was the TPS, so we changed that, but no help..
 but after swapping the intake yesterday,
it runs sweet now, and on all cylinders! :)

Are you tripping the diagnostic port out (the plugin thing by the fuse box) like your supposed to when doing your timing?

His 4runner is doing the exact thing that my 4runner did when the TPS went bad all 4 times. You would have to pin it to get it to go and then itd finally advance after you got over 1500rpm. ANything between 600-1600rpm itd act funny and again, exact same thing that mine was doing.

When we did the timing we didnt trip the computer because if you set it at 5* it will go to 0* when you do and thats what its supposed to be at.
