I've always hauled mine. You could filter from the river.
but I believe you only get near that at the springs, and one water crossing.
I don't mind bringing some water, but if there is a river near the springs I'll probably plan to filter any larger quantities we might want for cooking type projects. I'm really trying to keep the weight down in the 4Runner.
