Not sure about Cruisers other than the FJ40, but the width of the 40 is about identical to pre-86 Toyota trucks, So your '93 rear axle should be wider than a 40's.
Like Megolfer said, look for a fine splined axle as the coarser's Pinion gear is brittle and the gear teeth tend to come apart and destroy everything in the third.
