Fire crews gained the upper hand Monday morning on the wildfire burning in the Santa Cruz mountains for six days.
The Martin Fire burned at least 520 acres in the Bonny Doon area just off Highway 1.
At least 11 structures have been destroyed and nearly 800 firefighters have worked to bring the fire to 95 percent containment.
CAL FIRE officials said the fire has cost $4.3 million so far.
Fire crews worked through the weekend to water down hotspots that could spark other fires.
"The ground is still very hot," said Bill Peters, with CAL FIRE. "With our weather pattern we're seeing here, that could be very dangerous if we just said, 'Yeah, let's just go home.' We can't. We have to make doubly certain."
Fire officials said they expect the blaze to be fully contained sometime Monday evening.
Fire officials released a sketch of a man they believe may possibly have information regarding the Martin Fire.
