Chances are you will be subject to the state's laws in which you are visiting. Probably because they can't prove that you haven't moved there recently. I know this is true with driving laws. You may have read the statement on driving laws stating that,"you should check all locals laws before visiting that state". The cop's view on this might be that of, " if that's what you do in your home state, then stay there".
You'd probably have to piss off some young hot shot rookie cop, who's late for his union doughnut break, though before having this much trouble when sporting out of state plates unless your rig is really ridiculous or you do something really stupid.
If you're going wheeling and your rig might be of question in the state where you're headed it might be worth while to trailer it. I would prefer not to have to deal with an out of state ticket myself.
