They are studs coming out of the head. Im using an after market gasket, the one that came with it was a joke. The flange is pretty thin maybe 3/8" I talked to a buddy of mine and he said his thorley did the same thing. I'll try some lockwashers and see if that helps.

Head maybe stripped........

I ended up installing threaded inserts on all my exhaust studs.
