I know EMPI carbs are really big with the guys who run Baja bugs or sand rails and the like, but I know nothing about them. Right now I have a Weber K747 (34 DGEV) that I scored on Ebay as a kit for under $200. Weber carbs are noted for their very good bottom end power response because of their renowned accelerator pump. When I put the carb on, at first the engine ran horribly. I did some more research and read that Webers do not like the pulses coming from mechanical fuel pumps. I went out and bought a 30 dollar Holley fuel pressure regulator from a local shop and a fuel pressure gauge, installed them and set the float level on the low side and the engine purred like a kitten. It still does six months later. The carb makes the truck burp and fart and blow big black plumes of smoke on angles though. PM me about smog, K746 is outlawed in the Democratik Kolorfornia Republik.
