I have a 3 core radiator in my 85 and my e-fan is about 2.5" wide also and I've about 3/4" to spare so you should be fine.
BTW what's the CFM rating on the fan you're looking at? I don't remember, but I think the min on a TOY is around 1,800 cfm. Anyone?
