Here is the story as I know it from Brent. The infra red sensors were triggered and the owner of the lot responded intially (not the Sheriff). When everything appeared to be in order, the owner left. The theory is the thieves waited until the owner left and then cut this access gate lock and drove out.
I doubt it is an inside job due to the nature of this business (specialty cars on consignment) and that it has never happened in the past with much more valuable vehicles on site. But then again, nothing seems to surprise me nowadays.
