There seems to be some play in the transfer case rear output shaft/bearing, how much, if any, is normal?  Should there be any play in the cv end of the driveshaft?

You should have pretty much none.   Is the rear seal leaking?  Also make sure that, If you haven't had your driveline done to fit your config of drivetrain, You also have plenty of spline engagement on the slipshaft.  The less engagement you have the sloppier the driveline becomes and can cause issues.  Just ask me how I know... :gap:
