Well those answers confirm it. It is just a northeast thing. I work in a garage so I am prety familiair with getting drums off. Around here those threaded holes strip out with just a few cranks of the bolt, and don't pop the drum off. A few whacks does nothing, I've beat the living poop out of my drums with no luck, more often than not it involves using torches to heat up the drum around the hub, and then hitting it with a hammer. Boy you west coast guys have it easy.
