Turn the power up. Turning the wire speed down will keep your pedal under controll a little more, but you need more power to get the best penetration.

If this is a 110 welder you should set it up on a dedicated outlet for best results. It would also be a good idea to have the shortest amount of electrical, cord between the breaker box and the welder as possible.
