Hahahah probably never went closed loop and the Cold start injector was proably on and drounding the poor thing in fuel! 
Nothing like driving with the choke on to kill MPG! I bet that fixes it and the AFM may still be ok.
I hope this is the case. I might get a chance tonight to drive it, I will just slap the stock clutch fan back on really quick and go cruising. Man I hope this solves it
