If you plan on doing Sledgehammer then dont get them. Go with the straight ones. I have always gotten hung up at the waterfall with mine.
Funny, I've been wanting to add mine ever since going up Sledgehammer.... if I had them then, I would have made it through totally unscathed. The only damage I got was a small dent just below the drivers rear taillight lense going past the Plaque. Mine only stick out flush with the rear tire width and they've helped more than hindered me so far.
