You should be able to push it in by hand.  If you can't somethings is not right.  If it were mine I would replace with a new timing chain kit anyway since you have it apart.  I would also get the metal guides instead of the factory plastic ones.
YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE
AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU HAVE AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.
