John at Alpine Superchargers told me the following two distinctions between a 1995 T100 3RZ ECU and a 1995 Tacoma 3RZ ECU:

What happens when the O2 sensor sees a Rich condition:
ModelWhat happens...
1995 T100 3RZ ECUnothing
1995 Tacoma 3RZ ECU     Computer retards the Timing

Therefore, Alpine programs the piggy back ECU to advance the timing in order to compensate for the Tacoma's ecu who retards the timing. But since the T100 does not alter the timing during a rich condition, now we have waayyy too much timing added by the piggy back computer and the fuel requirements are far too great.

There is nothing wrong with the Supercharger. It achieved 7-8 psi just like it was supposed to. The problem was completely due to tuning. I have already learned about this with my SC MR2. I changed so much with that engine but yet was using all the stock electronics. I blew that motor up. So with my 3RZ, I decided to do it right: I had the piggy back ecu reprogrammed, which didn't work (because I told them I had a "Tacoma" so this is completely my fault), and then I dished out the cash and got the 5th injector kit, but still, the computer is programmed wrong -- until that is fixed it will not run right.

I say I blew up my engine. This is an exaggeration. To me it is blown up.
The problem is that my coolant system is being pressurized (possibly a blown head gasket?) but when I did a compression check, here is what I got: Cylinder 1: 185 psi, 2: 180 psi, 3: 180 psi, 4: 205 psi. The engine idles great, has normal power. I have already removed the supercharger and have replaced the stock intake. Everything runs great until you get above 60 mph on the freeway. After 60 mph, my temp just starts coming up, coming up. I let it get 2 or 3 needles before the red zone on the temp gauge one time because I was so mad.

So I believe that I have a cracked cylinder head, and the crack does not expand until you work the engine hard enough to generate enough heat for the crack to expand and cause a compression leak directly into the coolant system.

So there is the low-down.

I am saving money right now for a series of projects for my truck. There is a bunch of work that needs to be done. I have done ZERO maintenance to it over the past 4 years. I should be ready to dive into it in mid or late February.

Regards,
BigMike
