I would say you want to provide vacuum to the existing ports.  You will lose much of the functionality of the carb without them.  If the carb can't properly measure airflow and meter fuel then you are essentially just dumping gas in your engine arbitrarily. 
IFS is best kept at ambient temperature in a pile of scrap in the backyard.  When kept under a functioning vehicle, it tends to greatly diminish said vehicle's offroad ability.     -reklund5
