This is the first time that I have been asked this question.
I know that the bellhousings will interchange however you will need to use the matching V6 torque converter with the V6 trans.

If your auto is a 95 and older, the magnitic pickup in the trans will be wrong.
Your 98 uses a 4 prong pickup, whereas the 95 and older has a single spinning magnitic.
Only 96 and newer trans will interchange.
