now you get to grind a bit and fill. ever think of filling with lead? i know a guy that has some and ive been itching to see it done.

Yes, and no. I can do it and have, but it is not as stable as you may think. It is softer than the base metal and moves causing problems in the finish. Also acid is used in the process and if it is not cleaned off properly it caused blisters and rust.  Not to mention it is quite heavy.
