if your truck has the factory tow package you look up under the dash on the left side there is a female plug that you just plug it into and your good to go. there is two styles of pigtales you can get one is a universal that plugs into the truck then you splice it into your brake contoller and the other (which is what i have) is prewired for the truck and the brake contoller so you just plug it in on the truck and the contoller and your done. the harnesses are good from 96-06 trucks. this is the one i used
