Yeah with the way the environmentalists have been blowing hot air up our butts, we will never be able to access those reserves.
Another thing is that due to the environmentalists, California has not been able to build more or even new refineries (after tearing down old ones) since the 1960's thus reducing the possible efficiency in gas production. It doesn't matter how many barrels of oil we have sitting around if we can't process them.
I just figure lower gas prices and more fuel efficient engines are easier on my pocket book in the long run. That is why I like the thought of using a diesel engine for my project instead of a gas engines. With a savings of 10 mpg at 3 dollars per gallon, I can save (with my commute) over 1300 dollars per year.
For those of you who have dedicated trail rigs, put a powerful engine in there, I love to see those engines and working with them. I just can't aford them at this time.
