I dont have a gm alt on the 90 as of yet beings the yota part hasnt died yet. But when it does its history and in goes a chevy. You are absolutely correct, the yota alts from Napa are JUNK! I went through 8 of them for a customer before I found one that was worth anything! Also Id change the regulator at the same time as many times the regulator takes out the alternator.
