But at the same time, if you don't have the skills, and do have the $$, an IFS life isn't all bad. I've hammered mine and people on here can attest to that. My truck made it just fine on the 'con with a 4" Pro comp stage II lift. Sure, knowing what I know now, a SAS would have been cheaper and better, and I'll do that eventually, but for now, I'm sticking with the IFS. If you avoid binding your tires, get lower gearing, and don't hammer down on the rocks, you aren't going to pop much. I've only broken 2 IFS axles, and both were doing something stupid that I know better than to do.
and if you add cranked torsion bars and BJ spacers to the front.... 6-7in lift in suspension is achievable. if you want that high.
as for me... 4in of lift is fine to me... i dont mind cutting fenders.
i may rock my IFS longer then i want.... to be able to save for a SAS or just go IFS for a while til i get a new DD.
basically what BLACKDOG and I are saying is..... you dont NEED SAS... to be able to go places.
it just makes it MUCH EASIER!
weigh out the pros and cons.
dont spend money where you dont need it or will very soon be changing.
