I'd like to add that having had a few cars with carbs, there's a major problem with them:

There are three different variables to optimize for:
1:Lean/Rich (economy and elevation)
2:Hot/Cold weather (air density)
3:Optimized for low or high rpms.

As you can imagine, most of the time you aren't running where it was tuned for.  Cold or rainy day? Bzzzt.  Blazing hot desert?  Nope.  Up in the mountains? Want good fuel economy?  bzzt - can't without nerfing performance...

As a result, they run worse than FI 60% of the time and way better than FI 20% of the time(when everything is like when it was set up).  The other 20% it runs like it's got something wrong with it - plain awful.  I got tired of the constant tweaking and now will only buy a FI car.
