I just swapped a non EFI wiring harness into a 94 PU.  I run a Weber carb setup.  I have a 92 PU which is sort of my daily driver (kinda leaning toward a pre-runner project) too with a 22RE and it seems like something is going wrong with it every week, and it is alot more complicated to mess with.  With my other truck, the weber carb setup works good.  It starts when I turn the key and runs strong.  Haven't had any problems with it so far.  It's alot simpler to mess with.  Depending on what year cab you have, and what year carbed wiring harness, some of the plugs are different.  Like the temp controls, ect.  But it dosen't take long to swap the wiring harness.  and the important stuff, like ignition plugs, plug right in...  I think it all depends on how the truck is going to be used.  I don't do much extreme angle stuff, so for my application the weber setup works great.
