My car is smaller even than that Civic ('85 MR2).  Mrs. drives a Camry wagon, a better car than any SUV, and not prone to flopping on its side if she needs to steer hard.  If my name is on the paperwork, she will not be driving anything tall.  I'm very firmly in the accident avoidance camp.

Definately agreed that there is a huge compatibility problem between certain vehicles - basically, between ginormous truck-based SUVs driven like Porsches by self-important people with sawdust for brains and no regard for the basic laws of physics, and...well...every other vehicle on the road.

Obviously this isn't aimed at all people in all trucks - I wouldn't be here if I was anti-truck - but there are more than a few of them being driven that way in my neck of the woods, and I don't think everybody ought to be forced into buying APCs just to protect themselves from people who refuse to aknowledge the limits of themselves and their vehicles.  Dumb people eagerly follow trends, and the trend has been towards larger, heavier, more powerful vehicles that give the driver less sensation of speed and make him/her tend to feel pretty full of themselves.
