is running no cat legal where you live? i know a vehicle where i live wont pass emissions testing because of that, and because of that, most exhuast companies wont remove a working cat from a vehicle, and if they remove it, will only reinstall a new one
as far as being loud, i have an 85 22r and i just run a catco cat on it, has about a foot of pipe then nothing.... it is loud, but i like it
