Wanna hear something funny? There is a company selling retreads for sportbikes, and to prove they're safe enough they run their own race team and sponsor others. If you ever see a tire on a sportbike that's any color other than black, it's one of theirs. From what I've seen they've actually proven themselves very well, but then again, they did get their roots long ago in retreading airplane tires, and those have to be safe to 300mph!
