Also there is a piston inside the master cyl. it usually sits centered inside if it jams to one side it can block the passage to either the fronts or the rears, this happened to me once and locked up my fronts since it wouldn't allow the fluid to return once I let off the brakes. I would assume that if it did this and blocked off the rears it would also not allow fluid to travel through.
