It very well could be just the material from the type of pads being used.
I thought about that also, but the rotors and pads are OEM Toyotas. My thinking was that they shouldn't make noise since they are designed to work together per Toyota.

I was thinking I could try sanding the rotor surfaces and see if that does any good. Anyone know what grit is appropriate for that??
